Carpe Diem #560, deserted beach

Dear haijin, visitors and travelers,

Today we have a prompt which we have seen in an earlier post, namely the first episode of our "Time Glass" Challenge. Today we have deserted beach for prompt based on the modern Saijiki (list of kigo) "A Dictionary of Haiku" by Jane Reichhold.
Autumn is almost there and the beaches start to become deserted, however I like walking along the beach on a stormy autumn day. The wind through your hair, the smell of the ocean and the afterwards hot drink ... delicious.

Jane gives the following example(s) for this modern autumn kigo:

deserted beach
alone with the waves
of Septemberness

October beach
in all the footprints
the tread of shoes

Ah! That loneliness of an empty beach, only the sound of the waves, the cry of seagulls and the wind blowing through your hair. I can sense that feeling already ...

as far as I can see
no one on the autumn beach -
the cry of a seagull

Do you see, hear and smell that? Alone on a deserted beach ... an awesome experience ...

This episode is open for your submissions tonight at 7.00 PM (CET) and will remain open until September 15th at noon (CET). I will post our next episode, harvested fields, later on. For now ... just have fun, be inspired and share your haiku inspired on 'deserted beach' with us all.
!! By the way ... I will start a new weblog next month on Choka, the Japanese long poem. So if you are interested in writing longer poems? Than watch out for that new weblog "Chevrefeuille's Choka Kai". !!

  1. How uncanny I wrote a haiku about my experience at a deserted beach yesterday then came on line and saw this prompt - talk about synchronicity :)
